About the event

Fundraising is the perennial challenge for ethical start-ups, charities, small to medium-sized businesses, and really any purpose-led organization worldwide.

Join Defining Chapter for this unique 2 x full day, peer to peer experience and draft your own comprehensive fundraising strategy.

Share with other purpose-led business owners. Learn from each other.

Let us guide you through our workbook and other exercises. Benefit from our unique combination of industry standard fundraising techniques and those from our creative business coaching, and creative copywriting, background.

In our view, the key to good fundraising is noveltly (well, it's also communication... and peer to peer inspiration... and all those other wonderful things, but...). Novelty means seeing your products and services afresh. Getting an outsider or "outside the box" perspective.

In our first Saturday together, we'll:

1. Gift you the Defining Chapter fundraiser workbook

2. Help you consolidate the Who, What, When, Where, and Why? of your brand and mission

3. Identify your key stakeholders (allies, competitors, arch-nemeses)

4. Identify new demographics who might be a future source of income for you

5. Prioritise which of these stakeholders to target first

6. Do a SWOT anaysis of your business in the particular context of this fundraising/revenue-generating campaign you're creating.

7. Unleash a host of exciting ideas for events and campaigns for you to take home and develop.

In the week between our 2 x sessions, we'll set a small amount of "homework", to ensure you:

1. Have time to reseasrch your competitors and thereby refine your plan

2. Begin taking any possible action on any weakensses you've identified in your SWOT analysis

3. Come prepared for the next session with an event, campaign, or general brand movement you'd like to promote.

In our second Saturday together, we'll:

1. Develop an "ideal client" profile - a social portrait of the particular demographic or stakeholder-type you'd like to entice.

2. Draft an emotionally rousing email, social media post, and newsletter to target this stakeholder-demographic

3. Construct a visual narrative to accompany these comms. (because a picture says a thousand words)

4. Share your progress in pairs (or, if you feel comfortable - no pressure at all from us - in the group)

5. Bullet-point a final list of strategic, practical steps you need to take to get the event or campaign up and running.

*Note: this workshop is hosted by Sean, who is a practiced business coach/mentor, copywriter, business founder, and all-round advocate of ethical, purpose-led organisations of any kind. The workshops takes an interdisciplinary approach. With exercises from the world of branding to the world of fundraising, from comms. and copywriting to business coaching, the 2 x day course is destined to create a sense of novelty, fun, excitement, and true community learning. The practical aim of the course is for you to develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy + ideas for the comms. you need to make it happen.
